Don't Know ? Just Ask Cortana..

Tech giants like Apple and Google have given lot of importance to Voice assistants. With the SIRI coming in, Microsoft wants to ensure that it isn’t late for the party and has given Cortana a big push in Windows 10. Cortana was showcased at Windows 10 event held at Redmond. The biggest highlight was Cortana will be coming to desktops as well. At the core, it is similar to what we saw in Windows Phone, but now Cortana is more skilled at natural language, handling your daily appointments and so on.

Improved search is the first and foremost feature of Cortana. It can look up specific Word files or Presentations. It also lets users search for contextual information. For instance, you can look for “videos from September.” It can also go beyond your computer and search for videos or docs from Microsoft’s cloud service – OneDrive.

Another key thing needless to say Cortana learns its users’ tastes and preferences, just like some other voice assistants. There’s a new feature called Notebook that keeps a tab on all the saved information. It also keeps a track of the sports scores, travel, weather and such similar information that you may be interested in. It’s in the Notebook, that you can add other things that you expect Cortana to keep a track.

Sources say Cortana is integrated with Spartan Browser, given that Google has integrated voice-search in Chrome as well. Cortana will bring predictive search into the browser. Cortana also takes dictation. Yes, you can simply dictate an email, now. You can also ask it to play music. In case you are on a page of a hotel/restaurant, it instantly pops up the menu or Maps with directions. In the search bar, it also helps with generating auto complete.

Cortana needless to say just the right move as Windows 10 is expected to bring seamless experience across all Microsoft devices. Microsoft’s move to bring Cortana to desktops  makes perfect sense as voice-assistant are being seen as the future of search.

Invisible Text app - delete message even after it is sent

Worried about wrong message sent to your Parents, boss or friends now there is a Ctrl Z for the same. After a few too many drinks we have all sent that text we wished we hadn't or the text that accidentally got sent to the wrong person.

App to delete messages before it's received

Invisible Text” app works by allowing the user to delete a sent message as long as it has not already been opened.Another amazing advantage of the app is its timer facility, which allows the user to set a timer for a message to self-destruct itself if it is not read within a stipulated amount of time.

According to Invisible Text, it uses patent-pending technology that combines message encryption with device pairing.

The app is available on Android, iOS and BlackBerry devices using a technology that combines message encryption with device pairing."To date, no other solution can ensure secure data transmission between two devices, including a smartphone, smart TV, computer, tablet, radio or webcam,” the company said in a statement.

So far there is already one small catch, the recipient of the text you want to delete must also have Invisible Text for the app to work. So if you sent that text to your dad but it was meant to go to your boyfriend and your dad doesn’t have the app then unfortunately there is no saving you from that awkward moment.

Siri Self-Destructs Your iPhone If Stolen

Dont worry if your iPhone is stolen,If you cannot use it no one else can. Thanks to the marvelous feature added  to the new iPhone5 and iPad3.

There is a sort of uneasiness if your mobile is stolen ,though everything is backed up in cloud. The new iPhone is featured with Siri ,which is Speech recognition software. When the password is typed wrongly thrice. That's it.!!

Siri blows up or cracks the Phone.

There is a video aired in Youtube "Siri Hidden feature on New iPhone 5"which is created by Aatma Studio.Aatma Studio is involved in making creating innovative, mind-blowing concepts for Apple products.

"Everybody has friends whose mobile phones have been stolen, so we came up with this innovative risky measure that a user could enable,” Aatma Studio CEO Pramod Modi Shantharam says.

iPhone already has an option that allows you to erase all data on the iPhone after 10 failed password attempts to protect  your iPhone's data in case it is stolen.

One view which I feel is that they can give the user some time before destructing say 5 mins, so that just in case if he was drunk or a friend was snooping ,they have enough time to get the owner and login.

Do you really want your mobile phone to be broken if it was lost or stolen? Need to think .....

iPad 3 - Launch likely in March

Count the days for the exciting launch of next gen iPad 3 the new variant from the Cupertino based tech giant Apple. Reports suggest that the launch may be in March. But nothing about Apple products’ launch is sure till they actually launch it in the market.

Apple is expected to sell close to 40 million units of its hot selling tablet in the next one year and the demand may go up substantially if Apple rolls out its next generation tablets soon. Many people are awaiting the launch of the new iPad from the tech giant and are delaying purchase of the existing version of the tablet.

One thing that has been confirmed by the biggest tech company in the world is the fact that it will not phase out iPad 2 after the launch of the next gen iPad. Instead, it will lower the price of the existing tablet and sell the new tablet on existing price slab.

There are many rumors doing the rounds about the design and specifications of the forthcoming iPad 3. Reports suggest that the new iPad 3 will get a completely new design. However, there is no clue from the side of Apple on the upcoming iPads.  Anyway, here we go through the features the new iPad 3 and iPad Mini are rumored to have.

The new tablet is going to see a complete transformation from processor to display and even camera and so the excitement is higher than the launch of iPad 2. Many new capabilities and features are expected to land on the new iPad. As per some sources, the new iPad will have an entirely fresh shape and design. According to Cydia Blog’s Mike, the video shows the new iPad will have a major re-design. “The tail end of the part makes a “U-turn”, whereas the iPad 2′s Microphone Mic Flex Cable makes almost 90-degree turn both ways.

Though I am not sure ,but cannot rule out one thing which excites tech nerds. Apple may not wait to integrate quad core processor in its new iPad. This will make the iPad 3 truly fast. There are reports that the new iPad will be 4G LTE(Long Term Evolution) tablet, a faster wireless broadband technology designed to support roaming internet access. Apple feels safe with putting this service on the iPad instead of the iPhone (for now) because the service by its nature is a battery hog. The 11-hour iPad battery can better tolerate the power drain. The payoff is a faster Internet connection that will better leverage the iCloud. If the connection is fast enough it will give users the feel of local storage.

There are lots of other features besides above mentioned. One is retina display.  Digitimes says that Apple is planning on some sort of higher resolution display for the next iPad, possibly of the same quality as the Retina Display currently available in later-model iPhones. One more important upgrade in the new tablet will have is camera. The iPhone 4S features an 8-megapixel camera, which could also find its way into the iPad 3.

Google hands with HTC against Apple

Cupertino-based, Apple had filed a lawsuit against popular smartphone manufacturer, HTC. Apple had alleged that HTC, by the way of the Android software used on its smartphones and other devices, had infringed on the patents owned by them.Search giant Google, who’s also the name behind the popular Android OS has joined forces with HTC against Apple.

Initial stages of the lawsuit sought a sales ban in the U.S. of HTC smartphones running Android. If HTC smartphones are indeed banned from selling in the U.S. then the consumers there would lack choices, as far as smartphones go, which wouldn’t be a very good thing,Google said in a report. The report further revealed that Google, in support of HTC and its own Android platform approached the U.S. International Trade Commission with the above plea. The report further quoted Google as saying that reducing the access points for a consumer would invariably peak up prices, thereby stalling innovation.

Google strongly believes that HTC is one of the most promising smartphones brand today, and it can potentially prevent Apple’s iOS from becoming the sole viable mobile platform, the report further quoted
